Meet Dexter!

Dexter represents anyone who faces a challenge and rises to the occasion with a little help. The Dexter in your life could be a cancer survivor, a veteran suffering from PTSD, a proud senior losing mobility and precious memories, an athlete with chronic pain, or a family member with mental illness. The Dexter you know might be suffering from diabetic foot pain or irregular blood sugar levels. We all know a Dexter who needs a little love and helps to be put on a better path.

The Dexter Story.

He came to us as a broken little poodle. We found him on a rescue website after we lost our first furry family member to a terminal illness and our remaining sweet dog was sick with loneliness. He was filthy, overweight, full of infection, and afraid of his own shadow. He had pink paw pads because he had spent most of his life in a crate. He was blind in one eye and his owners had no idea of his actual age. We knew as soon as we saw him that he needed us as much as we needed him. He was a grumpy, skittish old man that the vet didn’t think had much life left in him. We were thrilled to be the only happy home this little man had apparently ever had. We got him cleaned up, his infections healed, and fed him good food and a healthy dose of love from a big family. He began to thrive and snapped at us less frequently. He even began to wag his little stub of a tail when we came in the door. Dexter is still with us and has become the funniest little couch accessory a family could ask for. He still can’t see out of one eye, snores louder than a grown man, but can race us down the stairs for his breakfast. He gets a dropper full of his namesake’s oil every day in his crunchies, and thanks us with lots of kisses and cuddles. We don’t know how much longer we have the pleasure of loving this sweet little man, but we thank our lucky stars that he was brought into our lives. We are better people for having known and loved him.
